For Teachers
Educators earn professional development credits*
while traveling to solve some of the world’s most compelling problems.
All teacher training expeditions are designed by and for teachers (k-college) to achieve four key learning objectives:
1 – Designing place-based curriculum aligned with your target criteria, and also the standards of your school and state.
GMI teacher training expeditions focus on effectively designing place-based curriculum to achieve learning objectives while engaging directly with affected communities in their own environment.
2 – Systematizing collaborative design to problem solve.
GMI travel-study courses emphasize collaborative design instruction, and cultivate understandings of the pedagogical principles and practices upon which it is based. Participants are thus empowered to effectively problem-solve across ideological divides while diversifying instruction.
3 – Implementing a multi-narrative approach.
GMI travel-study courses equip educators with tools and strategies for adopting a multiple narrative approach that delves into the diverse backgrounds, and experiences within the affected communities with whom we meaningfully engage, By embracing multiple narratives, teachers are enabled to help their students understand a range of perspectives, foster empathy, and celebrate diversity, while ensuring that all affected communities are included in the process and outcomes.
4 – Replacing cultures of vilification and blame with problem-solving mindsets.
Addressing problems in a hyper-connected, algorithmic and polarized society can be daunting. GMI propagates pedagogical practices for teaching and learning in this modern global context..
